Reserves of the Black Sea were checked
The commercial reserves of the Black Sea were checked by scientists.
Experts examined the condition and distribution of commercial fish in the waters of the Black Sea. The control catches included sprat, whiting, anchovy, red mullet, horse mackerel, kalkan flounder, rays, and other species.
The expedition was carried out by employees of the Azov-Black Sea branch of the institute. The participants of the voyage on a fishing seiner from May 27 to June 15 carried out control trawling and research work in the coastal waters of the Crimean Peninsula.
The entire area of the territorial waters was examined. A total of 126 survey trawls and 70 ichthyoplankton operations were carried out at 26 integrated stations. A visual survey of marine mammals was also performed from the vessel. During the cruise, there were two main species – bottlenose dolphins and common dolphins.
Now the materials collected during the expedition are being processed and analyzed in laboratories. Based on the research results, forecasts of the recommended catch volume for 2022-2023 will be developed.
